Dignity 4 Daughters
Breaking Cultural Barriers By Empowering Mothers & Daughters
Dignity 4 Daughters is committed to empowering mothers and their daughters in Kenya by providing access to reusable menstrual pads, reproductive health education and healthcare providers.
Through initiatives like reusable menstrual pad production, educational workshops, and community partnerships, we aim to normalize conversations about menstruation, breaking stigmas, and fostering an informed and supportive community.
Past Work
Naivasha Women's Hospital
A Lifeline For Mothers & Babies
The Naivasha Women’s Hospital was established to address the critical maternal and infant mortality rates in Naivasha, Kenya, where overcrowding meant three women for every hospital bed and lives were lost due to inadequate care.
Opened in 2013 through the efforts of “Friends of Naivasha,” and Fairtrade Africa, the hospital has transformed maternal healthcare in the region, providing lifesaving care to over 180,000 mothers and babies.
Helping Babies Breathe
Helping Babies Take Their First Breath
Helping Babies Breathe was launched to reduce neonatal mortality in Kenya caused by a lack of resources and training. This life-saving program trains healthcare workers in essential neonatal resuscitation techniques, equipping them with the skills and technology to save the lives of vulnerable infants.
Neonatal teams from The University of Nebraska Medical Center and other Nebraska Hospitals traveled to Naivasha to certify nurse educators to continue teaching these techniques. Helping Babies Breathe has directly contributed to a significant reduction in infant mortality and morbidity.
