How The Program Works

Through engaging and interactive sessions, the Daughters 4 Dignity team equips girls and their mothers in girls in Naivasha, Kenya with the knowledge and resources they need to manage menstruation. Our approach is designed to break cultural barriers, promote open communication, and create lasting community impact.

Mothers’ Education:

  • 2-4 hour educational sessions facilitated by certified nurses and teachers

  • Topics covered include menstrual and reproductive health, family planning, and communication strategies.

  • Teach mothers how to talk with their daughters about sensitive topics

  • Provide free, long-term birth control options

Daughters’ Education:

  • Full-day sessions at the Naivasha Hospital Resource Center, divided into age-appropriate groups

  • Interactive learning using video, group discussions, games, and role-playing

  • Topics include menstrual and reproductive health, hygiene practices and disease prevention

  • Each girl receives a menstrual kit with reusable pads, panties, soap, and educational materials

  • Ensures girls have the tools and knowledge to manage menstruation with confidence

The Future of Dignity 4 Daughters

As the program moves beyond its pilot phase in Naivasha, the Dignity 4 Daughters initiative enters a stage of expansion and sustainability, with plans to provide education and resources to more women and girls in surrounding areas.

Program Expansion

The next phase will expand the program to additional flower farms in Naivasha, reaching up to 2,895 women and 4,835 daughters.

Sustainability Focus

Nurses at each flower farm will be certified to lead sessions and ensure the program’s growth and long-term impact. Sewing machines and ongoing sewing classes will be offered.
